It looks like the Cuban born songbird Gloria Estefan is Coming Out Of The Dark in the near future as she plans a three night show at Foxwoods in Connecticut over the Memorial weekend.

Gloria, who was the talk of the town back in the 1980’s when she hit the big time with her husband’s band The Miami Sound Machine and later with a solo career, seems to have disappeared from public view in recnet years, since while touring in March 1990, Gloria was critically injured, suffering a fractured spine when a speeding semi-truck crashed into her tour bus. She had two permanently implanted titanium rods to stabilize her spinal column. Her rehabilitation required almost a year of intensive physical therapy, but she achieved a complete recovery.

Of course during that time she has also been raising her son, Nayib and daughter, Emily, with her husband, band leader, Emilio Estefan, whom she married in 1976.

But now the Anything For You and Words Get in the Way singer, is bringing her own brand of Latino sounds to the east coast of America at a cost of $75 to $250 per ticket.

The Cuban Grammy Award winner will be accompanied by another icon of music, Carole King.

In a recent interview to promote the event Gloria gushed, “Loyal fans go to my shows everywhere. They saw me in the New York area last year so Carole, my all-time favorite music icon, is a perk.”

When asked about her stage wardrobe, the ever modest Estefan revealed, “My stuff is made exclusively for me by Colombian designer Sylvia Tcherassi. She fits things beautifully, does funky cool things never seen, has the Latin flair and knows to do something I can definitely sweat in and it won’t show. Everyone who works with me will weigh in with something to say on what I should wear. I like black, but I might go red. Maybe a jeans jacket with red skirt that has ruffles and different things hanging off it.
She continued, ‘For sure, it’ll be long. Short definitely is not happening. I’m not worrying about anybody in the front row with binoculars looking to peek up the kazoo.”
On the subject of being a diva, as with so many other Latino stars such as Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey, it was suggested that she may continue in the same vein with allowing only brown M&M’s or white roses wherever she is? Gloria‘s reply was, “Please. I own a hotel, so I know how good a place is. I stay at Foxwoods. Their accommodations are excellent. I eat at 4 in the afternoon. My dressing room has only Wheat Thins, turkey, tuna, water and camomile tea. I’m no diva.”
